In year 2016 , the world’s oldest democracy held its presidential elections. This election was a bit different from past elections. This time it was not healthcare and terrorism but providing jobs to native Americans by prohibiting others from taking them , protecting Americans from terrorism by prohibiting others from coming in , providing healthcare to all by criticising Obama-care and in short infusing affirmative nationalism amongst American people. By reaffirming that they are superior to others not because they are advanced , innovative , creative, tolerant and secular but because they are powerful enough to act against anyone on the planet if their interest is likely to go against United States or in words of the then presidential candidate Donald trump lets “make america great again”.

There were other candidates too , who definitely are more suited, and have knowledge and experience in working for government but somehow he managed to win the elections , thanks to naughty Russians ( fools don’t try:-) ).
The reason behind his victory is that he was able to convince the people of America that United States has lost its grip on world which it had ever since world war 2. He convinced people that unemployment in America is because of L1 and H1B visas , the growth of terrorism is because of a religion. I don’t know how realistic are the claims of CIA that Russian hackers helped Trump’s victory but I am sure that he won because of the aggressive nationalism he was able to infuse within America.

Immediately after becoming president he initiated policy of hate toward Muslims by limiting the entry of Muslims from seven Muslim majority countries which has now been put on stay by the Supreme court.

The ban on Muslim majority countries assumes that Muslims are responsible for terrorism and no other factor exist there which causes terrorism. This takes America back to medieval era where countries use to fight with each other just for racial and religious superiority.

The ban ignores all those compelling factors which forces a human to become a terrorist. I have mentioned some of them as follows:

  • Absence of U.N convention on terrorism which can define it and provide solutions to eliminate it.
  • No actions against those countries who sponsor terrorism as state policy for its political motives (like Pakistan).
  • No direct actions against religious leaders who mis-guide youth and use them as tool to acquire power.
  • Absence of any effective international cooperative mechanism for reconstruction of war torn country.
  • Presence of cold war between militarily ambitious countries prevent them from taking harsh actions against some terrorist organizations as these countries use them against each other.
  • No parallel government in failed nations make conditions worse by leaving people without opportunities to develop themselves.
  • No word from international community against those nations who invade countries to get resources in name of weapons of mass destruction.

Forget about taking action on above factors he is not even taking on them , what he is doing will make those happy who voted for him but will not serve the humanity.

I am not an expert hence I will not be able to explain solutions to eliminate factors of terrorism but being a rational human I can definitely tell you that banning people from a specific religion will not help as it is not the reason of terrorism.

Lets talk about most discussed terms in international community now days.

  1. Refugee: A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee his or her country because of persecution, war, or violence. A refugee has a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. Most likely, they cannot return home or are afraid to do so.
  2. Immigrants: Immigration is the international movement of people into a destination country of which they are not natives or where they do not possess citizenship in order to settle or reside there, especially as permanent residents or naturalized citizens, or to take-up employment as a migrant worker or temporarily as a foreign ...

What forces me to discuss these terms is the process of building the worlds oldest and one of most successful democracy I.e U.S.A . As we all know the America is built by people who came to settle in America when the Age of Exploration dawned in Europe. The same thing is happening even today , that people from war torn counties arriving to safe shelter and a stable place. Of course there are security and economic issues but they can be solved by following countries like Germany who is handling thousands of refugees without making much noise.

There is no need to make america great again because it never lost its greatness. The reason why it is great is proved by its citizens when they protest against Muslim ban.

“No hate, no fear, refugees are welcome here.” This protest anthem emanated from demonstrators gathered outside the White House, in front of the Statue of Liberty, and in airports across the United States, hours after President Donald Trump temporarily limited the entry of Muslims from seven Muslim-majority countries. US airports everywhere were rapidly jammed with protesters in solidarity with Muslim travellers — refugees, spouses, parents, students, and professionals — stuck inside.

Reports have also come in from mixed neighbourhoods across the US of Christian and Jewish residents reaching out to their Muslim neighbours with reassuring messages of friendship and acceptance. A retired teacher stood on a sidewalk with a welcoming message, “No matter where you are from, we’re glad you’re our neighbour,” according to the Middle East Eye. Other slogans included: “If you build a wall, we will raise our children to tear it down”; “Love not hate makes America great”.

American protesters invoke the words engraved on the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” To turn them away, they declare, is to lose the very soul of our great nation.
